The California Authority of Racing Fairs (CARF) has announced the end of all Golden State Racing stabling and training operations in Northern California, including at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.
On January 28, CARF revealed that due to financial difficulties, it will not host any horse racing events in 2025. Shortly after, it confirmed that all stabling and training operations will conclude by the end of March, according to Pleasanton Weekly.
While live horse racing will come to an end, CARF stated that it will continue to support off-track betting on televised races.
This decision follows a challenging period for Northern California horse racing, which saw 13 horse fatalities and the resignation of CARF Executive Director Larry Swartzlander, The Independent reported.
Additionally, The Stable Café, a longtime gathering place for jockeys and stable staff, will permanently close at the end of March, according to Pleasanton Weekly.
